A while back, I took a shortened Dana rearend I had to the local axle shop to have it gone through and have a gear change done. I didn't have the shorter axles yet so I just had them measure for them and get them for me. I didn't have them install them though because I didn't have the brake parts ready to put on. I was finally getting around to installing the axles today and noticed there is no end play adjuster on them. Just wanted to ask if there should be or do aftermarket axles not require adjusters?

They most likely set it up for Green Bearings

Green bearings? If so no adjusters needed.

It sounds like those new axles have the "Green" type ball bearings instead of the original Timken tapered roller axle bearings type on them. If that is the case there are no provisions for end play adjustment, they aren't needed like the original bearings scope
You should contact the axle maker or supplier to verify this information to get the straight scoop thumbs

Thanks guys. I believe they were green bearings that were installed. I still have to install one of the axles tomorrow. I will take a look at the bearing then and see what type it is.

the big thing on replacement after market axles and "Green" bearings is to make sure that their is sufficient axle spine engagement into the posi or spool and that you have some end play on the alxes ends inside the posi or spool, no preload on the axles tsk scope
to check the spline engagement I use grease on the splines and install both axles at the same time and then check both axles for end play, .003 or more is fine cold up scope
