Im still shook up that my nephew called my Road Runner Hugger Orange.

So I checked him on the comment and almost said mopar had it first but wasnt sure.

Who had it fist, the non fleet orange cars?

I dont know of anything prior to the camero that gm used hugger on?

Does it matter weither it's the body, or does the engine count? Mopar max wedge engines were orange.

Is not Hugger Orange a non-metallic paint, whereas Hemi Orange(EV2) is a pearlescent like metallic? Therefore different colors.

Hugger Orange is, was and always will be a Chevrolet color name. Did you know that color names were chosen by the Ad Department? There was an ad campaign for the Camaro which called it "The Hugger"

The first I heard about Hugger Orange was the 1969 Indy Pace Car which was white with Hugger Orange stripes.

I associate Hugger Orange with '69 Camaros, and looking at old sales brochures online I see it showed up in 1969.

The particular paint mix which was called Hugger Orange on a Camaro was never used on a Mopar or Ford product. It was available on '67 Camaros under another name.

I've seen Hugger Orange cars parked next to Hemi Orange cars adn the Hugger Orange color looks almost red.

never saw it before '69, but it's the same 72 paint code for:
"Hugger Orange" - on a Chevy
"Carousel Red" - on a Pontiac (majority of '69 Judges)

also very similar paint code 73 for "Rally Red" on an '70 Oldsmobile

Similar to pulling Hemi Orange up next to Vitamin C and seeing why Plymouth called it Tor Red.

Dan, Rally Red is actually different:

I didn't believe it either.

Also, "72" was for 1969, as Chevrolet and Pontiac used different numbers for 1970.

It's like 1969 Chrysler's R4 code:
On Plymouth it is Barracuda Orange,on a Dodge it is Charger red(I have seen it listed as Bright red also)
My road runner was this color,it looked orange next to a true red car or red next to a true orange one!

Hugger orange was a 69 Camaro color.
They brought it back on the 99 Camaro.

The first small block chevy in '55 was orange.
