I bought a set of new switches for a car that had the old ones removed. The doors won't close because of the shoulders on the switch. Every one I look at on the Internet is the same switch with the shoulder. For some reason I can't get a picture to load on here. This is the switches I have:

The only one I can find without a shoulder is for a Nova:

I had the same problem when doing my 1968 Charger. I did have the old one and wound up getting them replated and using again. Do you have access to a salvage yard with some old Mopars? That would be the way to go, there is nothing to wear out about these switches, just a plunger. I'm sure you could find some originals on E-bay or a member here could donate a couple.

No salvage yards here for old mopars. I guess I will continue to search. I'll try putting an ad in the parts wanted section.
Thanks

I was always under the impression that the "shoulder" was designed to slide into the threaded part of the switch when the door was closed for the first time. Due to production tolerances, the distance from the door to the door frame will be a little different on each car. The sliding "shoulder" allows the switch to "self adjust" to the car it's installed on. I've got a few switches and the shoulder is pushed in by different amounts on each one.

Maybe the "shoulder" is stuck in the threaded section. You could tap on the end to hopefully compress it a little bit to get it started. Put some tape on the door and try closing it again.
