Is there any reason that some lips the drip rail slips over comes down closer to the 1/4 panels then others?
A friend has a 70. And the lips come down to about 2 inches or so from the top of 1/4
But have seen others and it comes down pretty close to the 1/4 panels
The polished trim is deff longer then where it snaps over on

Not exactly sure but my '72 has it all the way down to the quarter. Most e-bodies had vinyl tops including mine. There may be a difference in the two trims from vinyl to non-vinyl top.

I got to looking at a 70 barracuda I have. The lip goes to bout 3 inches or so (didn't measure) from top of the 1/4

I would imagine that the longer drip rail goes with the vinyl top as my car originally had one.

My 74 Challenger, which I ordered in December of 73 without a vinyl top has the long drip rails that come to the upper quarter panel line.

74 Challenger, bought it new. In 1978 I replaced the original 318 with a 446 and 727. Mild cam, Jardine headers, and Holley Sniper EFI.
New engine! 511" RB, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Eagle rotating assy, Comp hyd roller cam, Doug's 2" headers.

I went and looked at mine. The vinal top was gone. And the lip on it is the same (short)
