Buddy of mine made something similar in his '65 Plymouth.

wow, when cars had cigarette lighters and dash mounted ignition switches. I should probably order one for $20 at my local dealer. I'll just need a 3rd hand/arm combination

It doesn't look like it has any connection to the clutch peddle , so I guess you have to release the lever while your releasing the clutch and then reach for the shifter hoping you get a good grip on it to get those consistant ET's. It sure does sound good . LOL I'll stick to a line lock
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I used a home-made one on my Clutchflite equipped car, made staging easier.

It is basically a mechanical 4 wheel line lock.

i had a buddy use a "mico-brake" he swiped off the 65 GMC tow truck we used at the body shop [68-72] because he couldn't afford a line lock. we replaced the one on the tow truck because it was leaking. my bud tore it apart and replaced a couple of o-rings to get it fixed. it worked like a four wheel line lock because his car had a fruit jar master. i think that car was a 65 impala with a 3speed on the floor. my cousin sent me that exact add a day or two ago. this must the upcoming speed part trend !

I have thought a hand brake would be better than the foot brake for launching, hand would seem more precise. The one pictured is an over-center locking type, awkward, but still a deal at 20 bucks. That ad was likely printed back in 1962 or 63 when those things first came out. Lets see, 20 bucks in 1962 dollars would be worth how much in today's highly inflated dollars. http://www.westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi What cost $20.00 in 1962 would cost $158.35 in 2015.
July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.
