All I can add is my rear end guy says richmonds are hard to set up and I did buy some Yukon gears once that said right in the descrip (for that particular type I would assume) that they were noisy & were for off road which it would be in my case so no problem.

3.23, 3.55 etc are often not so bad, 3.9 and higher can often be noisy. If its a standard cruiser ratio try for OEM gears or a set of Lapped aftermarket, I recently got a set of blue box Motive for my D60, damn thing would put a truck to shame it was that loud. Ive since picked up a set of Spicer so hopefully they will be ok. It really is kind of hit and miss, if they have been lapped you 'may' stand a better chance.

i thought all new gear sets were run in or lapped together as part of the machining process of the set ? shruggy this is not to suggest any manufacturer is noisy or not.

I did a set of 3.73 Yukons in an 8-1/4 last summer. Quality seemed fine and they were very quiet when done. Make sure you have a fsm though, their direction book was vague at best.

I have 4.30 Richmond gears in my 63 that have been in there since 2006 with no noise or problems at all. Ron
