I tried searching the forum but with no results....

I am looking for a mini starter to convert from the big OEM.

I have a 383 with #33130FLT Flowtech Ceramic headers.

I don't want super expensive. Just something of quality that will start my car without terminals against engine block or any other fitment issues with the headers or block.

What have you all used with good results?

look for a mid -90's dakota V8 starter . . . I got mine from wrecking yard, and it has been working great ever since. Only issues is the large contacts - but they can be replaced/cleaned. Most have the terminal relocation piece on them . . . check napa, or o'reillys or schucks ???

Have a number saved from AutoZone of the newer style starters.#17010, comes with lifetime warranty. Be carefull though, they don't work with all types of headers.

I got one and it worked fine with my headers. Got some New Headman headers, and it wouldn't fit. Had to put my original back in.

Easy on the Slam dunk. Have the same exact starter, it doesn't fit with a 440 and Headmans 1.75 el cheapo headers that you used to be able to buy at Summit racing for 89 bucs.

No Slam dunk for me. work

A body. But, the interference was between the Engine and the Header. Body had nothing to do with it.. The newer Headman headers replaced a older set of headmans of a different Style. One fit one did not.

I will say, for the 70 bucs the OP should try one, may fit just fine, if not take it back. Just saying its not always a slam dunk. I payed 110 plus for mine and its sitting on the shelf, because of no fitty, after my new el cheapo Headman headers. theyt weren't the more expensive race headers.

Will the OPs headers work, don't know. Just giving him a heads up. up

With my 383 one cable stud was close to the block. Too close for comfort for me, but it had plenty of thread so I trimmed it.

Been in since April, no headers for me but no starter issues.

I have those same headers on my car with a late '90s mini starter I bought from a junk yard fifteen years ago. Pretty sure I can even remove it without unbolting the header, but I don't have a torsion bar right there in the way.

Not sure what it came off of exactly, the dude mostly had 94 and up trucks. Bought a bunch for $20 each and they always worked fine to replace the old style.

I've always had to take the terminal extension off for on a bigblock. I also recall having to still shorten the post on a couple because they hit the block, but they all don't do that.

A guy on FABO was selling em & the company made him purchase iirc 20 of em & I figured I need one for my mini that is collecting dust on the shelf! EDIT actually it was made for that, maybe not for a headers app but some clearance issue

The Flowtechs are very similar to the Headman's in design. I ordered a SND0088 that I hope will fit ok... Description says it fits Big Block. I will be putting the starter in my '69 Super Bee.
