I just bought a 99 2500 V10. It has a weird rattle at and around 3000 rpm when accelerating through this range. Also there at a steady state. Not engine related I am sure. Almost sounds like an exhaust resonance. I have heard the converters can do that. The previous owner said it has done this from the day he got it 4 years ago. Has 103 on it now and has been doing this since he got it at 80 something miles. Runs fine. Also has a late upshift on the 1-2. All others fine. Doubt it is related though. Any ideas or experiences out there? Thanks and have a Happy Holiday season.

Check the transmission shift linkage,it is known to rattle.I think there is a spring fix TSB.

This is the same question I'm asking about the cats. I have 80,000 miles and have this rattle like you describe. standing in front of the engine if i rev it up it sounds like a diesel.

I had cats replaced on my V8 96 ram while under warranty many years ago. The cats were breaking apart internally and rattling around making noise.

These have a resonance intake designed by Dodge and Lamborghini. My truck does the same thing and that is what I was Dodge by a mechanic that takes care of 3 of them.He said they all do it.A Dodge dealership owner told me the same thing.It could also be the timing chain getting loose and rubbing the cover.
