anybody heard of these? heads Ya and I'm sure you did too. Speedmaster used to be Procomp and we all know procomp in JUNK. Take a look at ProMaxx on Summit or Jegs. I just checked out a set of their small block heads this Summer and they were VERY nice. And had higher flow numbers than Edelbrock heads on my bench.

That particular head in the link is the Procomp copy of the bb victor head. Same thing that member RAMM used on an Enginemasters build a few years ago.
BradH sent me one to mess around with...... Seemed okay to me.
I'm always leary of the supplied parts in offshore heads, so I'd probably buy them bare and use parts I felt more comfortable with.

Yep, both Jesse (RAMM) and Randy Malik have used the Procomp / Speedmaster Victor clones in EMC builds a few years ago.
Out of the box, they're... ummm... "less than impressive." And even w/ good prep work, they are things you can't "fix" because of the way they're cast & machined at the source. Example: They have ugly steps below the exhaust seat rings which would require welding & replacing the seat inserts to correct... NOT cost effective.
Would I run a set? Depends... I know what they're capable of w/ porting (and have posted those results on here in the past), but would probably want to limit them to flat-tappet spring loads (paranoid, maybe?).
No way I'd trust any of their hardware, either, like Dwayne said. If you want to buy a bare set, I can provide you w/ a set of dyno-time only Edelbrock Victor valves for a good price. Dwayne's already seen my "Crash Test Dummy" head in person, so he'd be a good person to send the parts to for machine work, porting, etc.
IMO, they're only a good deal if you can keep the costs down. Oh, and they're going to require .600"-ish offset intake rockers, too, just like the Victors.

Jeff,
Don't buy questionable stuff. Sounds like you would be gutting them and buying valves, springs, retainers and doing a valve job= $$$$$$.

Jeff,
Don't buy questionable stuff. Sounds like you would be gutting them and buying valves, springs, retainers and doing a valve job= $$$$$$. And then you still have questionable valve guides and seats. Run while you can as there are to many better options out there.

Yup, figured as much. I saw the Jeg's ProMaxx looked like decent. Here's the post I did on the ProMaxx small block heads. Check out the flow difference between these and the Edelbrock heads and check out the difference in the pictures of both. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/2140321/1.html
