These are my first set. They weigh in around 1000 grams each, much lighter than the cast units. These ones are going on a 572 my friend is building. I'm making the next ones taller to clear Jesel and T&D rockers. W8 covers aren't far away, I'm doing some standard covers for myself, just some SBM units. I've been approached to do some P7 covers as well.

I like painted valve covers as well. No bling required.... . Who makes those valve covers and breathers?
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Andy do you have a store? No I do not have a store. I do have a website though where you can see stuff that I've designed for Mopar engines. If you want to buy stuff that I make you can talk to folks like Hughes Engines, Mancini Racing, FHO, Best Machine, Scott Brown, Firm Feel or Mazzolini Racing.

Bottom ears are farther apart on Trick Flow heads than on stock heads. The difference is about 0.020 per side. I split the difference so my valve covers fit both. I don't really care about OEM heads but I figure I can't get too far away from that dimension since someone might make a head to OE specs that I do care about. A little known fact about factory heads is that the valve cover bolt holes are not square to the rail. They are all tipped toward the intake side. Also the rail area where the bolts are drilled are also tipped. This means a flat surfaced valve cover will not sit evenly on a factory cast head. I realize these covers are not directed toward this end of the market, but thought I could pass this along. Your idea to tip the covers away from the exhaust is a good one. There are cast aluminum covers out there that warp terribly when hot, then go back into shape when cool. Tipping them should prevent some of that issue.

If you're going to all that trouble, you should incorporate channels for a spray system. I've been thinking about machining the tops off a set of cast covers and making a set of bolt-on plates that have oil passages machined in. My sheet metal fab, w8 covers have a gun drilled outside flange, has all the spring oilers machined into the rail. Real slick setup.
