So my 71 barracuda has a flat hood ,It was all original till i added Fender Gills , Opinions on which hood it needs Dual scoop performance hood Or Shaker hood which i,m hoping i can attach bubble to hood as car will retain its original 318 .Have you seen this done ? Any pics or advice . Who,s hood should i buy Shaker AMD, Golden Star, or Goodmark ? Dual scoop hood seems like only Golden star makes it ,Anyone buy golden star Hoods ? Quality ?

I think faking a shaker would look ratty. Go with the performance Raisin Bran hood

Nothing wrong with the Cuda twin scoop hood and originals can be had for a reasonable cost compared to a shaker.

I'm a fan of the Shaker hood, if your going to run one, go the whole way, it'll run you $2K or more for the repro stuff, if your looking for a cheap alternative to a functional Shaker, AAR/Stinger fiberglass aka American Sport Hood has a bolt on fiberglass Shaker hood with bubble attached to the underside...

Sport hoods repro or original are cheap and dime a dozen...another choice is the 70 Cuda AAR hood?

My vote is the AAR glass hood with the shaker bubble attached. That shaker stuff makes it hard to work on the car. They are PITA.

I think 70 AAR hoods look awesome. If I owned a 71 Cuda that is likely the hood I would want on it. I like shaker hoods too but attaching the shaker bubble to the hood seems cheesy to me. A shaker , after all, is supposed to shake. If the only choices were between a shaker attached to the hood or the dual scooped hood, I would pick the latter. And I would be getting rid of the 318 for something more substantial. But it's your car not mine.

I just swapped my rally hood for a shaker setup on my '71 Challenger. It's quite a bit of work, but worth it in the end. I went with the AMD hood and the bubble setup from Six Pack Performance. You can still use your 318 if you go with the 340 shaker base. Keep in mind that you will have to have an original or compatible small block intake and 4 BBL carb to accept the base plate. Motor mounts should probably be stock too. The height issue of the bubble is in play here. If you have 2 speed wiper setup, you will have to convert to a 3-speed setup including motor, wiper crank and switch. The bubble will not clear the 2-speed motor.

The hood with the molded bubble may be the way to go if you don't want to mess with all of these things.
