I just got a '59 Coronet that has a 400 put in it.
On the pad under the distributor is 71 400 with 11 under that.
On the block skirt is 7R704371
Can anyone tell the year and what it came out of?
Thanx!

I have a 1976 late production 3/4 pickup truck 4 speed 400 C.I. motor that had a forged steel crank and thin balancer that was drilled a bunch for the external balancing by the factory according to the trucks original owner I had heard that the 400 stick shift motors all, pickup or cars, had forged steel cranks in them, this was the first one I've seen

Hopefully the bottom end is all good stuff from a truck and not a car. It runs great. I'll get it up on the ramps again and look at the casting numbers.
