Didn't feel pro make a small block gasket with a 4.060 bore and one with a 4.100 bore that were .039 thick?

If so, do they make them and what's the part numbers?

I wouldn't give a plug nickel for a current Fel-Pro gasket!

Go Cometic and don't look back.

What happened to FelPro, GY3? I've had 1008s & 1009s in several motors for years with no problems even at 13.0:1.
Cometics are indeed a nice gasket.

The Fel-Pro Performance race gaskets are outstanding with superb sealing characteristics... I know... I helped design them when I worked for Fel-Pro as an engineer. NASCAR, and many other pro-engine builders use them.

The #1008 (small block), and #1009 (big block) head gaskets are bullet-proof. The design reflects that of diesel engines (typically able to withstand CRs of over 20:1). The fiber facing and anti-stick coatings provide superb fluid sealing (and forgiveness to minor surface irregularities).

No gasket is better than its installation.... surface cleanliness, head/block flatness, torque procedures, etc all have effects on how well any gasket survives.

MLS head gaskets are far less forgiving to surface irregularities, and, far too many machine shops simply cannot (or don't provide) the ultra-smooth surface finishes required to allow proper head gasket sealing with MLS head gaskets.

Too funny.............Fel-Pro`s here forever even reused 17059 marine gaskets plus I like seal not add silicone here, special finish there bs. Super high compression/cyl. pressure then steel/copper........

Is that 1008 a permatorque blue gasket?

Plus I'd like one with a bore size of 4.06 or 4.100 at the most.

I don't care for that 4.180 hole.

Had good luck with FelPros on my 499 for years. thought it would be a good idea to check out my short block, and had to install a new set. Lasted 2 passes. Installed another set, lasted one pass. Went to the Marine gasket, lasted one pass. Threw in the towel, and went Cometics, and had had no problems. Never again, will I buy a set of FelPro's.

Mopar Mitch is SO RIGHT about normal shops ability or knowledge on the CORRECT surface that is a MUST to seal MLS gaskets many do not even have equipment that is capable of providing that needed surface finish
I love felPro 1008 and 1009's and out of over 480 mopars built have never had an issue with Felpro You want to hate --then hate copper--folks use them all the time and don't understand a thing about why--If you are blown then yea they are what may need other than that...
FWIW I have reused 1009's many times even on different engines with zero issues--never on customers units just mine as I use the cast off used up junk my customers toss to do my budget babies!
MLS has a place in the NOS world and they are great if surfaces are correct--and they are reusable --other than that many times they are used when you need thicker gaskets to make up for mistakes so for me they come in as problem solvers otherwise FELPRO all the way

The issue is I can't get what I want in a felpro.
My surfaces are plenty good enough for MLS. Just didn't want to spend the extra money for something I don't need.

No other issues. Had the heads checked, and block was fine. Have heard the Fel Pro's have changed over the years. If you have had no problems, keep running them. The Cometics were not that expensive, and you can reuse them. Money well spent in the long run.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Freshly machined block and heads. Torqued the ARP bolts in three equal segments to recommended torque. Pulled it down after less than 100 miles and the #1 and #2 cylinders had started to push out!

No problems at all with Cometics..

I've run lots of Fel-Pro's in the past with no issues so who knows...

I recall getting bashed here for calling POR-15 junk as well as Comp Cams... but people find out...over time...

FelPro 1008s here, this is the 3rd set of FelPros, the first ones were the standard "engine kit rebuilds", the last two times I used the 1008s. No problems to report, but I concur, the install is very important. On my first set I ended up having a tell-tale of weep. On the last one, I went "overboard" (for a DIY at home thing anyways) in terms of cleaning and proper torque down in the right sequence. No crazy CR, only 10.5:1, but zero problems so far.

IF you ever want a product analyzed for cause of failure, simply contact the manufacturer and have it sent DIRECTLY to their facility, typically ~"Engineering Analysis Requested". Also, when questions arise, don't hesitate to talk with their engineers (e-mail or phone).
