A friend built a trailer for utility use from a Caravan rear axle (sourced from CL)a lot of square tubing, marine grade plywood and a lot of time welding it together. Then when he went to license it (Washington state) he had to prove he had paid sales tax on all the parts. He saved the CL advert and was taxed on the advertised cost. It really was not that bad. He then was issued a Vin # and a plate. He was offered a standard size plate or a motorcycle plate and he jumped on the motorcycle plate. Hopefully that option is available in AZ. Good luck.

Try to make the inside bigger than the outside. Transcendentally dimensional. If you get that figured out let me know!

Tom Bailey and Eric Yost probably have the two most well organized and efficient trailers. Hell, Yost has room for the Margarita mixer in his trailer, so you KNOW he has it right........LOL!!!
But the design of YOUR trailer will depend on what YOU want to carry. You have to build around that. Just build a box and start throwing stuff in it and nothing will fit. Decide what you want to take and build trailer to efficiently carry those items and you will have plenty of room

Just a drag week type trailer? or an actual trailer for drag week. You will have to make it fit into their rules if used for that. TRAILERS AND CARGO ON COMPETITION VEHICLES •Each competition vehicle may tow a single trailer with a maximum cargo area no larger 142 cubic feet, which is the advertised size of a standard 4x8 box trailer (which is 4’1” wide, 4” tall, 8’1” long; the math doesn’t quite add up to 142). If measuring in inches, cubic feet is (LxWxH)/1728. Measurements include anything carried on the trailer. •Trailers may not contain any components that contribute to cooling, charging, oiling, or fueling the competition vehicle while the trailer is being towed. I would swap the axle out to the same one my car is using, just in case.

If I were to go to Drag Week, it would be with a trailer like this.

I already have a full size trailer so this one will primarily be for Drag Week use. I'm not sure how happy the car will be about towing it so I'd like to keep it light. I've been looking at pics of some of the other trailers being used and some of them are pretty legit. Using an axle similar to that of the car certainly has its benefits and is something to consider. Ideas along that line of thinking could result in something pretty cool. That's what I'm hoping for at least.
