In 1971 I bought a new 1971 Plymouth Valiant Scamp. It came with a 225/6, 727 Auto and 8.75" rear. It had SBP Ralley Wheels and factory manual front disc brakes. It was built in Canada as if it makes any difference. It was a great little car, I lost it to my 1st wife in a 1977 divorce in California. I really miss that car.

The only rear end that Ma Mopar put in all the A bodies that had the drop out third members where 8 3/4 If the rear end has a removable rear cover that can be seen from the rear bumper it isn't a 8 3/4 In other words if you can see bolts holding a stamp steel cover over the rear end it isn't a 8 3/4

Valiant experts! I have been advised that all 1972 Valiant and Scamps with the 318 and A/C had 8 3/4 rear ends. Anyone know for sure? Thanks for post. My father ordered/bought a 1972 Duster Twister in late 1971 , 318/a/c , the 7.25 it had originally didn't last long once I got my license ... I can see near the end of 72 production Chrysler using them up to clean out build production stock units because they were going away for 73 .
running up my post count some more .

I thought the 8.75 was only guaranteed with disc brakes or a 340?

I thought the 8.75 was only guaranteed with disc brakes or a 340? My Dad's 72 318 Twister had disc brakes , no 8.75. 340 or as mentioned a towing package was the only guaranteed way to get it.
