I have 3 hood hinges that need rebuilding. 1 B body, and 2 from C bodies.

Who do you guys recommend? Thanks.

I realize I need to do them in pairs, so I'll be doing 4 minimum, but probably 6 total.

Speaking of hood hinges, has anyone here had any experience with the reproduction ones from AMD? I got a set for my cuda and was wondering how the quality compares to the originals.

send your originals out to rick
you won't regret it!

Chinese repo metal sucks compared to oem metal
so there is no way that AMD is even close in quality
and i can say that and be sure about it without any experience with them!

Does anyone know if you send Rick the hinges with the springs attached or without?

Thank you. The one's for my 300 are the worst. The hood on that thing is big and heavy, and the hinges are getting sloppy enough that it's affecting the hood to fender alignment on the opposite corners.

I wouldn't consider doing repops, can't imagine they'd have tight enough tolerances.

i sent him mine springs and all
he even swapped out my springs for me
because i was using the hinges for a air grabber hood
that was being adding on to the car
i was very impressed with the job and the turn around time.
i highly recommend him.

I would say without would be best. Plus you need to take off the spring first anyway to really see if the hinge is that worn, IMO.

You know how to take off the spring?

Yes sir. Get a slightly too small, weakened and worn set of vice grips, then pull the end of the spring MUCH further than you need to unhook it. Then at the last minute, when you have it stretched out about 2 feet, make sure the spring eye slips out of the vice grips and the entire spring then skips across the shop, bouncing off the hood of your most recently painted car. Simple.

Too late. Wore out, sloppy. Won't suck in the back corners correctly, causing slight alignment issues.

He did a pair for me and it was almost like Papa John's...
Seriously, I was honestly surprised how quick I got them back.
He did a good job, & they made a heckuva difference.
I don't have to push the rear corners of my hood down after closing it, now.
These were for a '72 Charger, btw

RestoRick without a doubt. Sent mine off and they were back in 2 weeks. They will return as bare metal and need priming and painting. They work perfectly.

Not sure about their hood hinges, maybe someone else has experience but SMS Auto Restoration did a great job rebuilding my 72 b-body door hinges.

Use a fan belt with the hinge on the car or in a bench vise, works great.
