agreed, we cannot have a key off draw. & on the other, Keep in mind that the power and ground sides are seperate & that the blue wire circuit should always be hot with key on no matter if there is a ground side issue (or not). stay in touch, we'll get back after it when the time comes

Exactly. When any electrical issue gets crazy, doesn't make sense and/or seems to affect unrelated things, it's a ground issue. You can count on that 99% of the time.
