Anybody doing any mods to improve or change the oiling in these gen 3 hemis?
Im doing a 6.1 turbo build and the feed from the main to the cam tunnel looks sort of small.

some good reading on this subject: go to www.moparchat.com then scoll down to & click on "circle track chat" then read thru Sanborns' oiling mods that are in a sticky at the top of the page and go to www.forabodiesonly.com & scroll down to & click on "small block Mopar engines" & read thru Guitar Jones" oiling mods that are in a sticky at the top of the page. both SB orientated but primo material & alot carries over to or can be adapted to BB/hemi

Melling 10342 pump. Other then that if you're spending much time above 7000 rpm, increasing oil capacity to the 10-11qt range seems to be the answer.

Sad nobody has an specific mods to add. Suppose the factory has it all figured out
Anybody else notice the hellcat block is scalloped in the mains at the feed holes?
LS motors have the same cuts.
I have a new hellcat oil pump.
lx forums say there is no difference between the melling and srt pumps

You said you're doing a 6.1. Never have I heard of lack of oil to the topend, ever. I have heard that a stock 6.1 pump will empty the stock pan above 7,000 rpm in about 11 seconds. Have you used a Hellcat pump on a 6.1? Has anyone? So since the factory pumps are now made by Melling supposedly anyway, I would just use the 10342 "Select" pump which I do use in my 6.1. Seems they are blueprinted and made with a little extra care. Maybe they are in the Hellcats.

Im not worried about the top end oil.
I can tell you that the 6.2 pump has a larger outlet hole and is taller then the stock 6.1 pump. It will take nothing to shorten it if need be
I figure the 6.2 stuff will be pretty much be the best offerings on the market and 1/2 the price of the melling.

You said the the feed to the cam is a little small, that would effect top end oiling I think. Seriously the only issues I have heard of were with stock 5.7 cranks and the stock 6-7 qt pans getting emptied by the end of a pass when people start eclipsing the 7k mark. Barton IIRC used a 12 qt pan and was going through the traps at 8900. How much RPM are trying to run? The exhaust valves and rockers are oiled from the being submerged in oil while running so anything to increase drainback would be probably the best oil mod IMO. LIGHT oil seems to be what the engineers leaned on, all 6.1, SRT 6.4's and the Hellcat 6.2's were designed with 0W40 in mind. This returns to the pan pretty quickly.

Im still in big block mode. The feed from the main oil galley to the crank is small.
It will be hydraulic roller so I would imagine 7k max

Enlarging that to match that Hellcat pump surely couldnt hurt. Blocking the squirters is another thing guys do in strip builds.

You can open them if you like. Dont really think its necessary. Ive buzzed mine routinely to 7500 with no issues. Doing a quick freshen up on mine and except for some junk going thru a couple bearings, they looked good. I did get rid of the squirters. Im currently working on reducing the amount of oil that goes to the heads & lifters. I'm restricting the oil that goes to lube the the lifter bodies, which gets oiled thru the mds bores in the valley. I designed and made aluminum plugs that can take a set screw that can be drilled to change restriction size. I'm also putting restrictors in the cylinder head oil feeds. I'm running T & D adjustable rockers with a solid roller cam. Dont need that much oil to keep the rockers, pushrods & springs lubed.

I believe it will keep oil from escaping from a path of least resistance.

i planned on running mine. have melling 10342 and was worried about sucking the milodon pan dry. shouldn't be over 7k so hoping its not a problem. 72dart, i noticed you run an accusump....for the extra capacity?
