Just got a 440 block with T440 E stamped on the pad. What year is this? My book says 4T is 74 but I don't have the 4.... E is cast crank...

Thanks guys!

I would look on the side (I forget which side) of the block for the actual block casting date such as: 09*27*73

Look closely, there should be either a single digit or letter in front of the T....probably lightly stamped or full of paint.

I had one that was stamped T440 E and it was a 1978 motor home engine. Had tapered seat 5/8 hex spark plugs and a cast crank.
