Anyway to remove zinc plating at home that doesn't involve media blasting.

Soaking in vinegar works. Muriatic acid works too, and is faster

I was wanting to do a set of Eddie carbs, will the muriatic acid eat the bodies up? Trying to re plate them in the correct color, or as close as I can get to it.

Muriatic acid will eat aluminum pretty fast. You could try brushing some of it on and cleaning it off as soon as the plating is gone. It won't take long. I'd try it on a test piece if you have one. Wood bleach(oxalic acid)works good at cleaning corroded aluminum. I haven't tried it on zinc plating. That would be safer for the aluminum.

Wonder if the bodies are zinc, or aluminum? They are like new, just trying to disguise them a little. Maybe I'll do the vinegar like he said.

I believe the bodies may be zink, I have an old AFB here that was in a wrecked car and has a corner broken off, it sure looks more like a zink material then aluminum, at the break.
An Eddie could be nearly anything. Gene
