I'm thinking of putting a 440 or 413 into my power wagon and was wondering if anyone here has tackled this job before?

I love the smell of Deer guts in the morning, it smells like... VICTORY!

There was a magazine article about a 440 stroker PW. Maybe Hot Rod. They built it and drove it around Europe.

The OE 230 flattie is short and narrow. Even the later 252 flattie is a tight fit. Putting that kind of power plant in a PW requires a complete new drivetrain not to mention lots of sheet metal changes firewall and forward. The magazine truck had a 727 + military transfer case + military axles from memory.

The OE axles are tough as originally built for a 90 HP engine. Put much more power in front or a sure grip and watch out! Axle shaft diameter is not very big.

If you do it please post pics!

I enjoy a '47 PW with original type flattie engine and powertrain. It will haul 3000# w/o complaint and even cruise up to 43-45 MPH with ~5.9 gears. Full engine balance and a touch more cam help the cruising performance.

saw one driving around a show this summer with a Cummins, but never saw it parked to get a look at it.

Probably not exactly the info you're looking for but, Stacey David has a bunch of links and clips on the buildup of his '41 Flat Fender 'Sgt Rock'.......
