Do you have one solenoid for the air shifter? Do you want to use a relay to drive the solenoid? MSD part number for the D7? Do you want to shift on RPM or Time?

There are two possible MSD outputs to run the solenoid (or the relay). Brown/White wire is the RPM/Time switch & the yellow wire is the shift light switch. Both close to ground (3 amps max).
Connect fused +12V to relay coil + terminal, Connect MSD d7 Brown/White or Yellow(Not Both) to relay coil ground terminal, Connect fused +12V to one side of the relay normally open terminal, Connect the other side of the relay normally open terminal to the + solenoid wire, Connect the other solenoid wire to ground.

if I understand this correctly, are you saying to use brown/white wire to ground the relay to trigger shifter?

That's correct. This is from the MSD D7 instructions.

"Brown/White - RPM/Time switch output wire. It can switch up to 3 amps continuous to ground when enabled."

Rpm sw only one rpm for shift.
Shift light allows different rpm for each shift.
Beware of rpm drop number for gear recognition. What happens is if you pedal using shift light wire with a low number it will think you have shifted.

Rpm switch will activate every time the rpm reaches that point.
