Has anyone installed a TransGo TF-2 kit without installing the "Shift Command" feature??
This is for a street car that would rarely, if ever see the strip. Might occasionally open the secondaries, but not a full 1/4 mile run.
The trans is a '70 model without the 3-2 part throttle assy.
I don't think I want to shift into 1st gear regardless of car speed. Seems to me this could be damaging to the vehicle if going too fast.
Isn't a downshifting mode already built in from Chrysler??
I'm thinking of leaving the stock 1-2 governor valve in place.
Just wanted to know what peoples thoughts, opinions and ideas on this would be.
Thanks Jeff

You can do it either way. I usually leave it out for the same reasons you mentioned. beer

IMHO, the Shift Command feature is only useful for off-roaders who might need the engine braking power for really steep descents. In a stocker, there is a limit to what speed you can manually downshift to 1st. (if you pull it into low at 100 mph it will wait to a lower speed before actually downshifting)

I left it out when I did one. A friend of mine did hit 1st on the freeway and spun a bearing. I'll pass on that.

This is what I was thinking too, I think I'll leave the stock 1-2 governor valve in the valve body.
Thanks for your replies, Jeff
