We only had some problems with AZs remans. It still wasnt bad.As for a mini no way would I ever use the stock one .Only way was if it was showing for points. My reman mini from Advanced has been in close to 20 years.Still going strong .Knock on wood.Rocky

Look at the back of several starters and learn how to identify the higher horsepower ones from the low HP starters. It's visibly easy to see that the longer unit is the better one. I wish I had a picture to show you but I dont. I've had good luck ordering ones for a 1995 dodge daykota with a 360 engine. I always open up the box right at the counter before I leave the store. If I remember right one is 1.8 HP and one is 1.5 but I may be wrong
1970 Duster Edelbrock headed 408 5.984@112.52 422 Indy headed small block 5.982@112.56 mph 9.42@138.27

Racer I believe you are correct. The 360 ones are supposedly better. The old 2 ton starters are the same. The longer ones are supposedly hi output ones.I have some of both here.Probally had 10 or 20 but my sons were scrapping and tossed a bunch along with alternators, intakes, radiatorrs etc.Once you put a mini in you will never want a clunky old style.Let alone they crank lots faster.Rocky

We replaced tons of remans at the shop.Never really had any problems.AZ seemed like they had the worst and even they werent very bad.Advanced we did a lot of buisness with.Very few problesm with anything.Same with warranty. My kid works there as parts pro so I get brakes , ign wires etc taken care of.Even before he worked there we got warranty taken care of.Rocky

It seems like any of the reman starters are a shot in the dark. It took two Autozone starters until I got a good one. If it`s easy to change out then go for it. But the limited lifetime warranty is misleading IMO. I had a new monroe shock go bad and Advance Auto said it was a one time replacement. That was it. I guess thats what the limited part means. Consider yourself lucky. I bought a set of brake pads back to Advance with the limited lifetime warranty and was told normal wear is excluded. They wouldn't give me another set. When I told them AZ has exchanged pads in the past they gave them to me. Depends who is behind the counter .
