have a 2001 Durango with the 4.7 (regular, not HO). It recently had a tranny rebuild done (line pressure solenoid went bad) about 450 miles ago. It isn't hesitating and shuddering when shifting into third now, but I notice when I hammer the throttle and get up to higher speeds and higher RPM's (anywhere between 65-80 mph and 2700-4500 RPM), sometimes I feel a slight jerking, and a very slight stutter from the engine, that just lasts a second, but it does keep on happening. My speed and RPM's keep climbing in spite of this. It gets better when I ease off the throttle and let the RPM's fall. Could it be the transmission? It almost feels like it wants to shift but something isn't letting it until I ease off the gas. Maybe my tires are skipping? Or might it be something with the engine? Any help is appreciated.

I think you can rule out tires skipping. At speed there just isn't enough power to do it.

It almost sounds like an electronic control issue. The engine and transmission are not communicating well. Something as simple as a poor connection or more involved. Suggest you ask whoever did the tranny to have a look as it could well be related to the tranny rebuild.

Do you think it could be a cylinder misfire? When was the last tune up?
You had the whole trans rebuilt for line pressure solenoid?

Don't know when it was last tuned. But yes I did because the mechanic said that because it had been running that way for a while, and not enough tranny fluid was getting to the parts, a lot of the soft parts were on their way to ruin and I'd have to replace hard parts soon if I didn't take care of it.

Does this happen once per pedal hammer or keep on happening as long as you are on the gas? Is the MIL or ck engine lite on?
