what do you guys think? some of the sound clips on his website sound good, some sound kind of "tin-y"

what length are you guys using and what would you reccommend for my big block dakota with dual exhaust, no x-pipe.

it'll have 3" exhaust.

I want it to be quiet enough at idle and cruise to be able to have a conversation inside the truck without having to yell, but I also want it loud enough for everyone to knwo it's not stock when I'm going through a parking lot.

and when I give it WOT, I want it to SCREAM!

Website says the longer it is, the quieter it will be, but I want to spend my money once, and get it right the first time, and it's hard to tell how loud something will be when listening to audio recordings for several reasons, so unless anyone in Columbus has a set of these that I can go listen to in person, I'm gonna have to go by what you guys have on yours and what you think of them.

Thanks!

I had a set on my crew cab, they were the 2.5" and about 20-24" long. I had the exhaust exit just in front of the tires.

It was Louder than most exhaust, but in the car at idle, and while crusing you could still have a canversation, or listen to the radio. If you were on the go pedal, it was LOUD and MEAN!

You definately wont sneak up on anyone with these, and if you live close to others and leave early in the am they may not like you. My neighbor was a 70ish year old man, he loved the sound!

I sold the truck, but got the power stix back and they will soon be on my Ramcharger.

I still have a pair of the 3" stix waiting for the day I get a Big block truck built.

Thanks. other than volume, how did they sound? I don't want something that's loud just for the sake of being loud either.

I live out in the sticks...sorta. they took a 50 acre farm field, put a dead end road down the middle and divided it up into 3-5 acre lots, so I do have neighbors, we all have pretty good sized lots.

good for me, I work 3rd shift, so I leave the house at 10 pm on weeknights, and get home at 9-10 am in the morning

I see the "powersticks" are only 16, 20, 26 in length, but if I wanted a "cobra" pipe, I could get much longer. anyone try that? I want loud, mean, but not "red neck" I'm worried that it's going to sound like a cherry bomb...and every one of those I've ever heard was just loud.

is that engine build, or exhaust design? will a big cubic inch, medium compression, cammed up engine automatically sound better than a low compression, small cubic inch, stock cam engine? (my gut says yes, but I don't know how much of the sound is based on the exhaust design vs the engine build, with the exception of the lope/chop at idle)

with a 3" exhaust I'd get the longest ones you can. they'll still be loud.

Dose anyone have a "sound bite" of these mufflers?.....I'd be interested as I'm sure others would be in hearing them?.......I usually just run chambered tube exhaust, no mufflers,.....but would be curious as to their performance and sound?

Thanks Mike

Aren't these based on the Z28 302 system? Back when you could get headers and mufflers in the trunk.

This also sounds like a Q for the tech forum.

Here's the link for the site. Eric is a board member and super nice guy. Have bought 3 sets of steel wheels from him over the years..

POWER STICKS

Go down the left side to "sight/sounds" link and there you'll find the WAV files

right, but some of those sound clips sound good, and some sound "tinny" so it's hard for me to tell if it's the engine build/tune that's making them sound that way, or the design of the rest of the exhaust system.

as much as I hate to say it, the last time I listened to them, the mustang sounded pretty darn good, but the charger sounded...eh?

and some of the ones of "driving by" etc. the recordings aren't quite very good, or my computer speakers suck.

which is why I was looking to get some input from anyone who has run them.

just listened again, and yup...the charger has something of a diesel sound to it's idle.., the mustang had a nice rumble, but actually, the magnum sounded the best. 3 different vehicles, 3 distinct sounds from the same muffler.

the drive by clips have a lot of background fuzz in them...other traffic maybe?

I know I want these, I just don't know which ones to get! should i go with the 26" long ones, or get the longer ones sold as "cobra side mufflers"?

the fact that he's a board member here is another reason why I want to give him my business over ordering something from Jegs

Never bought a muffler because of what it sounded like, would be more concerned of flow characteristics.

I have them on my Duster.

I love the sound and have many compliments on how they sound.

Mine are uncrimped and when you step on it, it is very loud. But good and throaty at idle.

I have some sound clips of them but they are from a cell phone. Shoot me an e-mail address and I will fire them out to you if you want to hear them.

The "Green Brick" did have them as resonators.

Check with Eric to see if he has any of his Thrush style mufflers left.
I just welded a set on my Dart last night but haven't fired it up yet.
I have a feeling they are going to be loud. But, that's what I want.

Just another glasspack muffler! one consideration with any Glasspack is the core diameter,Powerstick 3" has a 2 1/4 core, you actually defeat having a 3" system.

Powersticks are different than glasspacks, they are a chambered exhaust, like in the old Z 28's. They don't have any fiberglass in them, but I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong! The inner tube has slots which go in to outer baffles, the sound just echoes around in there so that when it comes out it is more quiet. Sort of. The Summit ones are the same idea, I put 18" ones on my Roadrunner. They sound cool, but you won't be able to judge any muffler until you try it on your own car, every set up is different.

I have only used Hooker Aero Chambers so far, but the Powersticks sound interesting.

Really? why do they advertise "true 3 with a 4" body outer diameter, if it's really only 2.25 inner core diameter?
