A Moparts member asked if I could take some pictures of my NOS Challenger Shaker hood from the under side. First I need to extract it from it's hide-e-hole for the past 13 years. The late Daniel Banker would always ask me if the hood was still in my garage window.

I thought that looked like a Chevelle quarter panel in your first picture. What's that GM product doing amongst all those awesome B and E bodies? Agreed...fantastic pic! it's a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed that I am doing some detail work for a friend's brother in law. It has made say that I will never [censored] about Mopar engineering ever again.

Awesome pictures of the hood and shop! Just keeping it for safe keeping or will one of those cars end up with it? Neat to see that stuff still out there. How did you acquire it/how long ago? These kind of stories/posts interest me as (I love hearing history on cars, car parts or even people's life stories on how they end up where they are today.) I can't wait in 20 years when people will debate if my 2010 Challenger really came with a shaker or not. Or I'll just be that old guy saying I used to have one of those.... Well each car has a story and those are best told over a beer in the shop. That takes hours. Trust me I know. I started with my first Mopar in 1981. I bought low and sold high. I tried to trade up as often as I could. I collected what I liked and built my own shop so that I could house them. Over the years I've collected any missing pieces with a few still to go. I will tell you one story. The NOS hood was found at the Spring Fling probably around 2000. I was with a guy that was a pretty big parts pimp and as we walked the rows he missed this hood. How I will never know. At first glance I thought it was just another cuda shaker hood, but lucky for me I was paying attention. I always told myself that I would buy a Challenger Shaker hood if I ever found one. So when I saw this and then saw that it was NOS I had to have it. The seller also had some original shaker grills and for the tidy sum of $1400 it was all mine. My part pimping buddy was not to happy that I had gotten something under his nose. Years later a friend of mine in Long Island offered me a ridiculous amount of money for it, but I explained that Murphy's law dictated that if I sold him the hood I would then find a N96 Challenger that needed a hood and I'd be screwed so I refused. Luckily when I did find my N96 car it had the hood but that's a whole other story.

I need a repro shaker hood for my 70 Challenger. Anyone know someone that has one in stock? AMD says Nov, Goodmark, Classic Ind and Year One are on back order.
