I bought a used dashboard clock for my 1970 Cuda and want to test it before I install it in the car. How do you test the clock out of the car? It is from the standard dash.

hook up 12 volts and see if its moving... set time and check every hour for a day or 2 and You'll see if it accurate??

Ground the housing and touch voltage to the terminal

Is the clock also running on reduced voltage from the dash VR?...

I usually use a 6 volt DC lantern battery to check Mopar dash instruments for activation

No a clock is tapped into a constant 12v. Any they have that wierd mechanical electromagnetic device that periodically rewinds the spring. The new solid state design is the way to go, but you lose the stop-go second hand. It becomes a sweep.
