Like many out there there was rust in the top corners. Its often thought the windshield leaks but its more likely from condensation.

Anyhow, this dash had the usual rust in the corners which turned out to be not as bad as it looked, as well as surface rust where the paint was thin or non-existent (the whole underside).

I considered blasting but it would have taken different medias to remove the paint and the rust and I also didn't want to risk any damage like warpage. And then there are all the hard-to-reach areas to be considered.

There is a local company that do submersion stripping for $2./pound. This cost me a whopping $35. - which, considering the results, I feel is well worth it. Note that it didn't harm the plastic dip on the wire looms and in fact, they shine like new! 2 day turnaround. Have a look ...

Cambridge, ON. As I said, they charge $2/pound.
