I have a 74 regular cab with interior that's in decent shape and a 92 club cab with a gutted interior. Anyone know how much difference there is in the dash structure and if I can swap them over? Not worried about wiring or anything, just structure and hard parts.

I will also be doing the front clip, but I'm pretty sure that will swap over

Basically I want to take this 92 cab and chassis and put the rest of my 74 on it.

not 100 percent on the cross fit one would think you could make it work, while changing the dash in my 79 to a/c dash I found how much of a pain it is to remove the screws on top ledge with windshield still in at junk yard(had to cut slits in window gasket) not sure if 90 dash mounts the same up top or not if your windshields still in it would be a task to get screws in there if no wholes currently for 90 dash. I'm thinking the body line on a 90 has a angle in it and 74 is smoother more rounded not sure how far that body line goes to into the door if at all may what to check so door doesn't catch on fender when it opens. I do know you'll need to change the wiper cowl 74 is flat to match hood no raised middle, hood latch is different but if you swap whole clip with support not an issue I had to cut opening in mine for 78 latch . You said the 90 was gutted inside I think so I'll post a pick of my cab gutted maybe if there is a major difference itll save you tearing out 74 dash

Can't remember if the wipers are in the same place, so check out the cowl thoroughly. 92 doors will have a raised area that will not look good with the earlier fenders. Dash will bolt in but there might be a difference in the steering column attachment. Wiring WILL be a problem. twocents

wipers are in the same place. I put a bird bath hood and cowl from a '77 on my '88

Looks pretty similar in those pics to what I have, steering column might be an issue. I was thinking of swapping the 74 doors as well. Basically i am trying to get a club cab is the only reason I'm considering swapping all this stuff.

I have a 73 club cab already, but it's pretty rough and I found some damage to the structure around the doors that was badly fixed years ago. The plan was to already swap the 74 front clip to the 73, but I found the 90 where the cab itself is in much nicer shape so with what you guys are saying I might just attempt swapping everything to the 90 instead.

It's a bit conflicting to give up on a first year club cab that was my first vehicle, but the more I tear into it the more damage I find that will take more time and work to make right than starting with something better in the first place.

I got a 93 dash installed into my 75 Plymouth Trailduster so there should be no issue going the other way in regards to dash / dash frame fit.

That's cool, did you swap over steering columns and everything else too? How about the a/c boxes?

Everything.

Wiring harness, fuel tank, AC box, steering column, power brake booster, wiper motor, radiator - all come out of the 93 and went into the 75.

This way I went from a 360 2bbl with 727 to a 360 MPI with a 4 speed automatic.

The last step is to convert the axles to the ones out of my 72 W200. That will get me true part time 4 wheel drive. The W200 front axle has already been converted from drum brakes to GM disk brakes with locking hubs.

I think I will try a hybrid of the two and see how it goes. I have a 92 regular cab lying around with a complete still closed A/C system, but I really like the look of the older dashes so I'm going to see how new a/c and old dash can work together. Should be this winter's project, make a newer truck look old and put a 4bt diesel in it.

I want to put an older(70s)dash in my 88,if I could ever find a decent affordable one.
Do you have to change the heater box as well?

I have found in a local yard a '92 D150 with a complete instrument cluster. Since it has a voltmeter and my '87 has a bypassed ammeter, I want to swap the later instrument cluster into the earlier truck. Obviously there are some differences in the dash wiring and maybe I should ask for the complete dash wiring harness to ensure success. I also have two really nice Autometer voltmeters and maybe, in the long run, it would be easier to carve up the original '87 cluster and fit the aftermarket gauge. Thoughts?

I didn't run into the issue because I swapped out ALL of the electrical wiring to go with the motor and trans and the dash assembly
