Hey guys, I picked up a cheapo gas tank and sumped it a few weeks ago for my project. Aeromotive recommends a 1/2" vent from the tank when running their A1000 pump. There is no vent fitting on this tank, just a hole for the sending unit and a hole for the fill tube. What are some of you sumped factory tank guys doing for a vent, would a vented cap be sufficient or should I weld in a ball check valve at the top?

thanks!

They are circulating a lot of fuel with that pump
to need a 1/2" vent line... but you will need to add
a 1/2 line on the top of the tank... dont put a valve
on it unless you want the tank to turn into a ball.. if
you dont like the vapor smell then add a charcoal canister
so it cant vent
wave

Thanks for your help! By a valve I meant a tip over valve, something like this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rci-7020a/overview/

You don't think that would work? I was also thinking of going the cheap route and drilling holes in the gas cap. Could that work well enough?

The roll over valve will work fine...if you go
with the roll over valve you dont want to drill
the cap... that would be a leak if you did roll
over... IF the roll over valve isnt big enough
then just put 2 vents in it with roll over valves
