I recently purchased a 69 Roadrunner in really rough shape. Most everything was taken off the car before I bought it and is no longer there. The broadcast sheet under the back seat was eaten by mice. There was only 1 small corner of it left. Ive been trying to decode the fender tag and I'm having trouble with a few things on it. Its a lynch road car, so most of the online decoders dont work very well with it. I know its a red 69 roadrunner, air grabber hood, console 4 speed, 391 suregrip. The other codes are confusing me such as the 7X, 26, G03 (or 603 cant read it). Any help would be great. Thanks. Heres a picture of the tag.

Is the painted accent stripes the same as blackout hood treatment?

no, on the '69 Road Runner it is a single painted stripe down the side of the car

I noticed the painted on pin stripe today or whats left of it. How common is the 26 inch radiator on these 383 cars?

the 26" radiator is included with:
Axle Packages - 3.55s & 3.91s
Trailer Towing Package
Air/Conditioning
(around 6,000 of the 33,000+ 1969 RR coupes) ~18%

otherwise not available on a US spec '69 383 RR

1969 Road Runner coupe US spec.: A31 w/D21 = 5.2% or ~1,683 RM21H9s

26" rad is part of the 3.91 axle package, max cooling is a required option which includes the 054 26" 3 row radiator ... same as 6pk and Hemi $$$ ... with a shroud and 7 blade clutch fan assembly and a cooler on the power steering pump if so equipped.

Its a complete turd right now and in need of quarters, floors, trunk floor, torsion bar cross member, rear frame rails, front fenders, drivers door, and cowl panel. Someone also helped themselves to the motor, transmission, console, hood, deck lid, and a bunch of other stuff. But yeah, I agree that it was probably a very cool car when it was new. Some people call me crazy for wanting to restore it. I just cant bear the thought of another one getting crushed. And im also a body man, so I wont be paying anyone to do the bodywork.

I bought mine in Iowa. Funny thing is, it sat in a junkyard for probably 20 years. It has a froze up small block in it now along with a cable shifted automatic. Im guessing someone had a 65 barracuda they were taking parts from because it has a 65 barracuda floor shifter and tail light in the back floor area.

You're insane, that isn't even a good parts car ...

I guess you are doing it for the love because even with not paying for bodywork you'll be upside down in that car, as long as you are okay with that then up primer

Too bad you weren't so far. I have a 4 door parts car I am cutting up that you could probably use the cowl and cross member off of.

That is an ambitious project ahead. But I think it will be a stellar looking car when done. In reality, my 68 Road Runner isn't a whole lot better and I am redoing that car. Had a lot of sentimental value to me, so its worth it.

Good Luck
