I have a 2014 Ram 1500 with the big screen and navigation and the nav quit working a while back, took it to the dealer and he said that it's a software problem that corp is working on. Anyone else had this problem? Drove the truck out of town the other day and the nav started working again??? Clock will stop working and then start back up after I shut off the engine.

No, but for the over-all cost of that Uconnect 8.4 AND the added $600.00 for Garmin nav, they BETTER fix it for you, and fix it right! Nothing abut that system is a good value, and I will NOT buy another one!

mine quit one time but started working later that same day,, have not had any problems since..

My Wife has a 2015 Journey and the NAV on it had some kind of recall for a software install. We had never had any issues but the dealer informed us of it last time we took it in.

I did all my firmware updates here , then downloaded them to cd

Check to see what your current firmware version on the radio is

Sorry can't help, never had a problem with mine, think the dealer did the recall update but even before that never had a issue.

Can the Nav system be added to a vehicle? I have a 2011 2500 Ram that has the infinity stereo and backup camera, but no nav.

Certainly with the U Connect 8.4, not sure of the others. EBay actually has several of the nav systems like might have been in 2008 Avenger pretty cheap (in the 200's). I was considering getting one for my Suburban as long as it too is the 1.5 din.

Like mentioned , starting in 2013 with the 8.4 its pre loaded from the factory , then the dealer can unlock it for a fee

2011 , you would have to buy a used factory radio with pre loaded gps

Don't waste your money or time

Just to upgrade the factory garmin gps in my 2011 , the cost is $150.00 and that's a one time update only . All the gps updates for all Chrysler vehicles are $150.00 for a one time update

You can buy a garmin gps nuvi with lifetime map udates , usually around five free updates per year for a lot less then $150.00 depending upon size and features

$150.00 for a one time update is a screw job to say the least

My dealer quoted me $500 to unlock the NAV. Then 150 to update as needed later. My Android works just as well and updates are free. Also for 50 bucks less, there is the UCONNECT LOCKPICK AIR V2 that uses the Miracast feature to connect your Android device to the screen. It is intended for streaming video but works just as well for Google maps, etc. Curiously, iOS 9 and above Apples do not allow Miracast connection anymore.
For all of these, remember the 8.4 is not a Hi Def screen so colors and resolution will not be as vivid as your phone screen.
