Guys,
Are these pumps a good out of the box pump to use on a 2/3 grouted block?

the back of the impeller is plated already,

I used a stock A/C quality reman unit, cut the disc and installed it my self. Used it on both filled and non-filled blocks. Moroso drive kit, Scirocco radiator with a good fan/shroud unit on it. Never a cooling issue unless we were really hot lapped hard for a few runs on a hot day. I'm sure that one would work fine. An oil cooler would also be helpful on a filled block if the temperature became an issue as the oil is a big part of the cooling, especially on a filled block.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Thanks RR, I can measure up the thickness no problem at all, then just cut out a nice round plate of the appropriate thickness and TIG Tac weld to the ends of each blade right? Mage the diameter a 1/16" smaller than the blade o/a diam Ep make it easier to Tac weld??

Yeah $605 RRetail, really!

Put a remote pump on it if you can. Cleans up the front of the engine and allows you to pump a lot more water.

yes make the OD of the "tips" a bit less than the OD of the vanes so you can tack weld several of em (maybe all depending on how rigid your plate is) and a hole in the center to weld there. FIRST press the vanes forward against the pump housing to minimize lost flow there also (.030-.040"). There are parting lines in the 1" timing cover short cooling passages on each side & deburr those and deburr the block holes, EVERYTHING to make up for the block fill. EDIT when you press the vanes support the shaft on the other side so it takes the load. MORE EDIT almost forgot, put some feeler gauges between the vanes and the housing when you press it as it will jump on you & undoing that ain't fun

Thanks Rob, Andy, that is a clean engine for sure. However as its mostly a street car Id rather prefer to go mechanical pump over electric to maintain reliability etc. that is a nice set up though for sure.

No prob's Rob, Ive already cleaned up the TC but I'll port match the block as well etc.

guys, thats awesome, thanks for the help, much appreciated. Out here its law that you must have heated windshield demist so I need to run a pump with the heater inlet so modifying an A/C factory pump works best for me and saves me a couple of $$
