Howdy folks!

I am a new user to the forum here, and a novice mechanic.

I recently aqcuired a 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe 2 Door Sedan. The motor that is installed in it (by previous owner) is a 1978 Dodge D100 360 V8. The wiring is a bit of a birds' nest... most of it is wired for 12V, but a few things (wiper motors and fuel guage) are still wired for 6V.

With all that being said, I was wondering if you folks could recommend a wiring kit (that's not gunna break the bank) so I can clean up this wire spaghetti!

Thanks in advance and thanks for having me!

***EDIT: Iforgot to ask, do I rewire based on the engine or the car, or both? Thanks again!!!

We use American Autowire almost exclusively. You could also look at Ron Francis wiring's offerings. beer

BTW your wipers should be vacuum unless someone has upgraded them ? shruggy

Welcome aboard! You will be wiring for the car and the electronic ign on the eng so there wont be an exact match. I'd get ahold of someone who can guide you & get some spools of wire of the right gauges and terminals & schematics go from there. I did do my 65 dart from scratch & it was time consuming & that is pretty much a bare bones deal

welcome to the jungle. you will now spend all your free time here, so you might just as well sell your car ! biggrin just funnin' ! what ever route or kit you choose, PLEASE invest in a GOOD QUALITY crimp tool and make several practice crimps so you can terminate the ends in a solid way. i'm now involved in a friends 72 duster that almost ALL of the terminated ends are messed up. over the years, i have wired several cars from scratch one wire at a time, and a few more using different kits, plus a couple more using a combination[s]. but nothing irritates me more than to re-do someones bad workmanship when it comes to wiring. i'm not bashing you in any way, so please do not even think this. i would just hate to see you put in a lot of work just to see it all go up in smoke [literally] !! as well as being a fire hazard, a bad crimp can often times back feed into other circuits, especially common grounds, and make future problem diagnostics frustrating in the least. especially intermittent problems. have fun with your new project and keep us updated with its progress !

iagree
And will add to do a bit of research on crimping. It will make or break the job. We recently had a 57 chevy come is with an 2005 LS6 swap. EVERY terminal was improperly crimped EVERYONE OF THEM.

While your looking at non application specific wiring kit's one of the things I prefer is to be able to connect to the fuse box as needed

PICK AND CHOOSE FUSE BOX

Vs a pre terminated fuse box

PRE TERMINATED FUSE BOX

Thanks so much for the help and greetings y'all!

Wiring is going to be a winter project, but I kinda wanted to get a jump on what to expect, and what to shop for.

Thanks again for having a great spot for a novice like myself to get some help!
