I'm building my dad's 1970 Roadrunner for him.

The car is a 383 Roadrunner.
FC7 In Violet Metallic (Plum Crazy) with V21 Black hood stripe, and White interior.

Originally, the car came with a V8W White tailpanel stripe.


My dad wants to add a Black J81 Go Wing Spoiler to the car.
(He's had the spoiler longer than the car. There's no talking him out of it.)


On a factory built car, Did the presence of a Black J81 Spoiler affect the allowed colors for the tail panel stripe?

We're trying to decide whether to use a White tailpanel stripe as original or switch to a Black tailpanel stripe.

The Spoiler and Hood Stripe are Black, so we weren't sure if a White tailpanel stripe would look odd.


Happy to hear any opinions. Which one do you guys think looks better?

The spoiler has no impact on the stripe color

I know that the white stripe is a reflective stripe.

I'm not sure about the black stripe. Maybe it's just flat vinyl?

V8W originally, so keep it that way. White pops much better against FC7 and will tie in the white interior.

Very true about the white on the FC7 . . . check out the side stripe on my 70 Sport Satellite . . . check out the pics - one with everything finished, and one without the stripe and moldings . . .

Especially with the dust trail stripe...

Does it have a vinyl top?

And if so, what color?

Nope, No vinyl top. Just metal with purple paint.

My dad visited the Wellborn Museum recently and was able to view a purple Roadrunner with the white stripe.

We're going with the white stripe.

I agree, BEG your dad to ditch the wing!!!! That car is completely awesome as is. Less than 1% of these cars especially B Bodies had a wing. They are so common place now that they are not even cool with a wing
