I want to swap from a np435 2wd to a nv4500 2wd. The truck is an 86 with a 360. I'm needing to verify if the 4500 from something 91-93 2wd will bolt to my bellhousing. I'm not concerned with the mounts or driveshaft, I can deal with those issues. Just need to know if I can remove the 435 and replace with the 4500.

No, 4500 requires its own bellhousing. A 435 dual pattern will only accept 435 or 833. Even the hub register is different

So I'll need to change to a hydraulic clutch also?

hey Robert

I have the nv4500 hydro bell and 5 speed in my 85 stepside.

I also have the duel bolt pattern hydro bell for the a535/833/833OD = I tried it on the 4500 trans and the 4500bearing retainer was bigger but bolt space looked the same.

I tried it on my 82-435 trans and bolts right on in place of the mech bell.

if you are looking, I want to go back to 727 auto in the stepside. I have a new 2400 PTC-TC new rebuilt 727(by goldmember) TF-II shift kit in a CRT-VB ready to go in.

IIRC, all I needed to do on the duel pattern hydro bell was open the bearing retainer hole up some for it to fit.

I also ran into trouble with the #7 tube on the hedman 79080 2x headers with the nv4500 specific hydro bell. no room for a mini starter.

I used a set of hedman 78170 4x4 headers and a mimi fits fine, not sure a old LA will though.

I trimmed and turned the stock auto trans mount 180* then trimmed lip off xmember to bolt it all in there like stock in the 85 chassis. stock bolt holes in frame/no drilling holes to move it back 2"

it is a nice set up in the 85 stepside. I just got bad knees any more so auto for me.
