Looking for some real world experience on this. I know this shouldn't be a hard question to answer. Just wondering what people have found to be the best, the best as in --Accuracy(of ratio) , Geometry, Reliability. These are rockers I plan to use on this years EMC entry in the SPEC Bigblock class. Any advice would be welcome.

Hoping AndyF chimes in here and B3Re Thanks, J.Rob

I'd run the Comp ultra-pro magnums.

Older HS`s w/lash caps not perfect but good geometry and scrub and a solid Isky roller...........You didn't specify what cam you will run...........

You're right whoops, probably .710"+ hydraulic roller is mandated. J.Rob

What specifically do you like about them? I've never used just kinda thought they looked heavy and therefore klunky.

I also see they are no longer offered in a 1.6 ratio. Wonder why?

What ratio? Lots of choices at 1.50 but the herd thins out as you move to higher ratios.

Hyd roller usually doesn't have a lot of spring pressure so that gives you more choices. Not sure what your budget is or if there is sponsorship dollars available and stuff like that.

If it was my motor I'd probably put T&D on there but really Crane, HS, Hughes, Comp, etc. would probably all work just fine at 0.700 lift.

Another vote for Comp ultra pro magnums on Eddy RPM heads. The scrub is good and I also like that they require conventional ball/ball pushrods instead of ball/cup style. Had an issue with shaft galling with the earlier non-bushed pro magnums. The ultra pro magnums are bushed and have been trouble so far with with comp 951 springs and solid roller cam.

Afaik they were only ever offered in a 1.5, so I doubt that's going to work for you in this instance.
As was already mentioned, the overall geometry seems to be pretty good with that rocker on those heads. They really aren't that heavy, and since most of the weight is closer to the shaft, my guess is they have a lower moment of inertia than the aluminum alternatives.

For what you're looking to do, I think T&D is probably the way to go.

You mean "no" trouble?

I run the Comp Pro Magnums (old ones) with Ed heads on a 496. Scrub pattern is good. They did require shimming along the shaft like just about any aftermarket rocker. Ratio measured at ~1.52 vs 1.5 advertised. 15k miles and some extended road track time w/o issue at freshen. This with a .55" lift MM lobe solid flat tappet. My understanding the bushings in the "super pro magnums" become important as you approach .6" lift and associated spring pressure. In my setup, bushings are not needed.

Jesse,
I would use a rocker with a cup style adjuster, so that limits you a good bit. Also, are you planning on running the stock length valves in the Eddys and getting enough installed height elsewhere? There is going to be a whole lot more to this selection than just experience with other combinations, IMO. Rule specifics, and creative interpretation, are going to dictate which direction you will need to go.

I think a custom T&D rocker and relocated shafts are likely going to be the solutions in this case. An off the shelf part number isn't going to do it.

If you want to call me, I can explain in more detail. 717-497-6572

I'm actually not looking to get into re-engineering the valvetrain on this year's EMC effort. I actually want to keep this as simple as possible and don't really want to ante up for T&D's this time. Installed height is 2.00" and .708" lift should be easily doable in this regard.
I ordered the Comp Ultra-Pro Magnums and would like to maximize these. I appreciate the offer Mike and wouldn't mind calling you to pick your brain, perhaps next week sometime. J.Rob

Pick my brain? That'll be a short call. grin Seriously though, I'd be happy to chat with you.
