I want to lose my torsion bars, is there a coil over shock that will work with factory A body control arms? My shock mounts are already reinforced. Thank you

You can put a coil over on the factory lca's but you will need to come up with a way to adapt the shock to the factory top Mount. You'll also need adjustable upper arms if you don't have them already. The qa1 non adjustables will not clear a coil over.

Afco makes a coil over that bolts in your factory mounts. 3850m is the number for double adjustable shocks.

You may have to clearance your frame some with that much angle on the coil over. If you have your forward strut bars already running up front I would just weld tabs on there and mount the coil over that way. The straighter the shock, the less spring rate you'll have to run.

Like this except with a factory arm.

Will that fit through a factory arm?

What needs to be done to the lower control arm? Guys have been running coil overs on factory lowers for years.

I talking about the space in the upper that the shock slides through. I'd hate to have to go tubular

Nothing needs done to lower. These shocks bolt on stock car. I had them on my dart when it had a fully stock front end with torsion bars.

I don't think it will fit with the coil over spring installed on a stock upper a arm. I ran these with out the spring on my stock front end. I think it would requir some trimming to make them work. Standing them up straighter would only make that situation worse. I would just get some tublar uppers as they help with your alignment.

Not sure why you would hate to go to tubular uppers but a coil over WILL NOT fit with stock uppers and I wouldn't suggest starting to trim back the uppers.

1967dartgt - did you have to add any additional support to the upper shock mount?

I added these. But there are many ways to do it.

1967dartgt - Very clean - I like it! How much travel do you have in the front?

I agree tubular uppers are in order if you are going with coil overs. More clearance and the added caster doesn't hurt either.
