Hi guys looking for some help. Restoring a 1963 Plymouth Savoy with the factory T-85 3spd trans and 8-3/4 rear. The car is a 4 door and wondering what the correct length of shaft should be, and are there any other vehicles that may have the same driveshaft? Having a difficult time locating what I need. The engine is a 426 maxie.

Well there is an adapter available for using spicer U-joints, get one of those and you are in business. Tim

I'm not up on 63's but ideas are:

Does the service manual have that info in it?
Is the 2dr and 4dr the same, the 66-70 b-bodies are. Dodge and Plymouth are different length driveshafts 66-70.

From the '63 Parts Manual:

57 1/4" lgh., 3" dia., w/Std. Heavy Duty
Trans., 426 cu. in. Eng., includes U/JOINTS,
TD2

No mention of body style restriction.

TD2 is Dodge, for a Plymouth (TP2) the correct length would be 54" ... same manual :-)

Part number is 2401 668, and it is listed only for this application in 1963.

I'm also looking for one, it would be nice to see even a pic of this rarity.

While we're on the driveshaft topic, are the trunion ends the same for 904 and 727 trans (64-65 car)? Unlike the small-big joint slip in later type.
