Would there be any benefit to increase the wheelbase of by 68 Barracuda by 3 inches?? Going to do some front end work and it would be easy to do. Worth it?? What might be the result??

my Duster is 3 inches longer. Also my motor is moved back in the car about 11 inches. The car goes straight as an arrow above 150 mph. It makes stretching the wheel wells easier. Mine is longer in the rear. Birdtracker

Look at what the AFX cars did.. they moved the body
back... it would make it harder to transfer weight
unless you push the engine back even farther

Depends on how much power. Does it wheel stand bad? Does it hook everywhere? I would bet unless it's pretty quick it'll be better where it's at. That would put you at 111", same as a Dart

I would, and have, move the engine back as far as possible with a stock firewall and move the rear end forward one to three inches devil I ended up with 50.25 % weight on the front tires with me in it with those mods boogie The car wasn't that fast(9.99 at 135 MPH weighing 3450 lbs with me in it on 91 octane Oregon pump swill through the exhaust system and with the air cleaner on) but it was fairly easy to hook well anywhere on M/T ET Street tires shruggy

I probably need to add a little info. The car weighs 2940 race ready, with my n/a 413 smallblock it is a 6.4/6.5 car, stock front suspension, ladder bar rear, powerglide and 8 3/4. Car would hook excellent and I set it up to only do a few inch wheelie. I'm now Rebuilding my 413 for a 6-71 blower and injection which will also add weight to the front. Anticipating higher horsepower I replaced the rear with a well built 9". In determining what to do with the front I have finally determined to install struts using the stock frame rails. This should reduce the front weight a considerable amount. In measuring for the struts I determined it would be very easy to increase the wheel base by about 3" with no impact. Hence the purpose for my question. With the blower I cannot move the engine rearward except for a very small amount.

I did not do measurements to see if I could shorten the wheelbase but it may be possible to move the spindle centerline a couple inches to the rear. Does that info change any answers? Thanks, Max

My own opinion I would leave the length the same...IF
needed lower the engine... being a blower are you starting
at higher rpm or low rpm.. if its low(under 2500 rpm) I
wouldnt worry about it.. but if your on a trans brake and leaving
at 5500rpm or more then lower the engine and move it forward..
I still wouldnt lengthen the wheelbase... MAYBE a inch or so at
the max.. I wouldnt stretch the fenders

Thanks Mike. I haven't run the blower as yet but I was leaving at 3600 on the brake with the N/A configuration. I kept it that low to keep the wheelies down. I'm pretty sure I'll be leaving at a low rpm with the blower also. I went to the shop this afternoon remeasured everything and even reinstalled the front end to take another look. I'm with you I'll leave it where it is. Thanks Again, Max
