$305.. want to put one back on my wagon. Right now it has a 650 Edelbrock with the spacer. Kind of want to get more air and fuel into it!

Get a new Street Demon 625. You can get remans for less off eBay direct from Holley, they work amazing. Better throttle response/torque than both my Quadrajet and the Thermoquad I tried earlier. They "stole" some Thermoquad ideas for the Street Demon but it is a cinch to tune by comparison.

Shouldn't I go up in carb, not down? It's a 400HP. Thanks

383HP used what? 625 cfm around there? 800 cfm will be fine IMO. Unless your talking about the demon carb..

305 seems great, unless what I read about Summits reconditioned units.. Out of spec from cleaning, tumbling,etc..

A rebuilt carb is just one that's been cleaned and had gaskets replaced. They do not replace worn out items like throttle shafts[ think vacume leaks]. Scott at Harms rebuilds these correctly, taking care of the throttle shafts and other issues. When I worked at the parts stores years ago, there was a company called TOMCO. Our inside joke, which was too true, was that it meant "tomorrows comeback". Spend your bucks with someone who does the job correctly. C/S and "Lifetime warranty" don't mean squat.

I agree. Scott is the go-to guy for a restored carb.

The problem with thermoquads is the fuel bowl is very small and the gas evaporates out quickly. It seems that after 3-4 days, if you aren't running an electric fuel pump, it takes a lot of cranking to refill the bowls so it would start. And I did epoxy the wells and use new o-rings on the primary pickup tubes. It seems that if the level drops too low it won't pick up fuel to start. My 600 & 750 Edelbrock AFBs can sit for 2 weeks and start with no problem. The level in the bowl may be low, but it will still fire. The thermoquad ran great once it started, but I don't want to run and electric pump and it can be weeks before it is driven.

Interesting.. Should I still put a spreadbore on it? I'd like to get the spacer off, and give my wagon some more fair and fuel.

The problem is today's fuel that evaporates fast. Back in the good old days, you could leave it for a month, hit the gas a few times & it'll fire right up.

This is correct. Using fuel without ethanol does help this issue in most cases.

Rick I used an 800 Holley spread bore for years on my Savoy with a 77 iron intake manifold and worked well enough to put my low compression 440 in the 12's.
It was dual feed double pumper but I don't think you can buy one new anymore. It was a very well mannered street cruiser and it was a direct bolt on to the TQ manifold.

I have a reman TQ from Mopar and brand new q jet for late 80s they are superior overall to a stock unworked TQ. My advise is put a 650 to 750dbl pumper on that car and it will haul tail
