Looking into a set of wheels for my 67 Coronet, Street/Strip car

I am finding more and more 16" and 17" Diameter wheels available, I am looking for Drag style wheels ??x4 front ??x10 rear.

Is there a preference in going to the bigger dia wheels, or are the manufactures making them to go over the bigger brakes on newer cars.

In Drag racing what is the trend and why?

For fronts, either 15" or 17"...you can get skinny tires in either size.

For rears, 15" has a way bigger tire selection and will hook better than the bigger sizes anyway. Unless you're talking pro mod size tires using the 16" rims.

A lot of the newer cars can't fit a 15" rim due to the brakes like you said. They run the big diameter stuff for a while. Eventually when they get enough power, they make the necessary changes and use 15" wheels.

If you want to ride around, the bigger wheels look good. GOOD rear tires are limited in anything other than 15" although M/T is constantly adding to their drag radial sizes. I think an 18" is a good all around size, could always swap to 15 or rear with good tires for the track

I wont tell you what I think of those BIG wheels
on the street... but I have a name for them but wont
say it... stick with the 15" unless your going pro mod..
you could also put some 22" rims on it with some rubber
bands as tires for the true look
wave

Im thinking I didn't get my point across clearly. While looking through the selections/ options of Wheels and Tires in the "DRAG" categories, I am having to filter out the 16" and 17" and bigger wheel sizes, I was curious if this is a trend with Real Race cars or is it wheel selection for modern cars.

I am Needing 5" backspace to run a 315 or 325 on a 10" rim. I have Weld draglites with a 4.5 backspace and they are tight to the outside of the wheelwell. or I go to a 295 tire.

Not that the extra 1/2 inch of rubber is gonna make a difference anyway.

running the 295/55/15 on my Rampage.. I run a
14x31x15 on the drag car.. I'm still playing with
pressures and the ladder bars and shocks on the
Rampage.. Radials are new to me

If you're running a tall tire, the only choices are 15" IIRC...

Swap between 315/60 and 325/50 on this:
