I've got a 66 Barracuda I am swapping in the rear axle and front brakes from a 74 Dodge Dart so I will have front disk 10" and rear drums 10". All BBP.

I know plenty of this type of swaps has been done. Can anyone share where to find the size wheels they are running and the offset?
Without the wheel size tool I'm not sure what will fit to order new wheels. The 73'-76' front end is (I believe) wider than the 66' set up. (Face of the drum to face of the drum on the original 66' vs. the face of the rotor to the face of the rotor on the 74' set up)
Plus the rear axle is a bit wider at the wheel face to the wheel face with the larger drums vs the 9" X brakes on the 7.250" the car had originally.
Thank you,
Joe

I would think SBP and BBP 7&1/4's are the same fairly close width (but I would do the swap & especially on the front discs then measure). Likely with some care you could get a good measurement without the tool. As you know the rear panels on the insides ain't plumb and on the front I think you'll run into an OD problem before a lock to lock interference problem. I would be rounding up a set of 14x5.5 BBP rollers to slap on there so you can measure (rim clearance/offset/sidewall bulge) and the SB will be listed for your choice of tire. the tolerances on the early A's were the worst (I love em tho) & are even so bad that a tire that fits on the dr side front may not fit on the pass side front! A guy on here had that same problem.

My 66 dart has had the front and rear converted to LBP. I used the later disc brakes up front and used new axles for the 8 3/4 that was out of a Duster. I run a 15x7 in the rear with a custom back space. I ordered them from Summit years ago. I want to say it is like 4 5/8. The tire is a 255 60 15 Drag Radial The rear springs are superstock and have the rear end quite a bit in the air. Fronts are just a 15 x 6 out of the bone yard. I forget the back space but probably 3 3/4 or 4.

The rear left side rubs on the lip of the drivers side quarter when going around corners. Getting a tire under an early A is not fun. I wish I would have mini tubbed and relocated the perches when the car was on the rotissere.

I don't know what the front track is on a '66, but maybe this will help. I have a '67 Barracuda that I swapped front discs and an 8-1/4 rear from a '73-76 into. Since the '73-76 front track is wider than a '67 (nearly 7/8" wider on each side), I tried to make up for it with the offset on my wheels.

I bought Mopar Rallye style wheels from Specialty Wheels, in the following sizes:

Front: 14x6" with 3.75" backspacing
Rear: 14x7" with 4.12" backspacing

I mounted BF Goodrich Radial TA's, in the following sizes:

Front: 205/70R14's
Rear: 225/70R14's

Here's what it looks like:

Hope this helps.

Roger

I run stock 87 M body 15x7" steelies, want to say they are 4.5" BS, but might be off on that. This is in a 65 Cuda.

later A bodies have a wider track mostly because they widened the front end on these cars, adding discs widened it more.

i believe the M body wheels are 4 1/4"bs. i used a couple of those as mock up on a 72 duster, and with the chosen tire size it was close. then the owner used a 4"bs wheel, and it was a tick closer on the duster, but "just" cleared. on the 64-66 cars, wasn't the original wheel bs something like around 3-3 1/2" ?

I dunno the backspacing of the original wheels, they were 13" ones on mine, I think I still have them in the shed. Problem is on the 65 Cuda specifically since that is what I have and I do not know if it applies to anything else, but too tall a tire will cause more issues up front than too wide and you could definitely go with a deeper BS in the front. I run 225/60R15's up front and they just miss everything.
