I'm putting a new glass hood on the valiant (drag only). And trying to find the optimum distance from the windshield for performance.

mine is 2 1/4" off the screen. we did a test with some paper ribbons to see how much air was going that way, at 140mph they got ripped off. Better tape might have helped but we prooved our point & saw the air did indeed get sucked in the cowl & our system was working.

I think mine is only about 1.25" off the windshield. It does pull air in...did the ribbon taped to the hood trick. The cowl hood NOT sealed to the carb versus a sealed 6 pack hood = no difference in performance.
