I need .001 oversize bearings for my build to get the correct clearances and the only place I can find them is from King. I have never used King bearings before and they recommended the HP series bearings. Anyone else use King good or bad?

On my last build (416) I used King.. this was the first
time for me.. I did have the pan off to fix a leak and I
pulled a rod cap to take a look... they looked great

yes, they get great reviews. I just sent back my King rod bearings because they had some taper in them. I had .001+ bearings which gave me .0033 clearance. I'm getting standards in return.
I bought them at Nashville engine warehouse for $71.

I run them exclusively. Hp King bearings have a huge amount of taper intentionally. You have to be patient measuring actual clearance. The oil groove, and inlet hole make it tough to get away from the taper. Easier to just measure the housing bore, then bearing mic the bearings and do the math.

I don't understand neither. when I called them they told they should have no taper. that's why they let me exchange them.

When you say taper do you mean there are more clearances across the bearings at the rod cap lines than straight up and down? If so most Mopar rod bearings (Tom Hoover or Larry Shepard called them thier Delta Wall design bearings shruggy) are designed to have that feature intentionally thumbs It is suppose to provide a extra cushion of oil there to wipe onto the bearing and crankshaft as the motor runs scope

I know bearings are thinner at the cap lines... that
is where rods pull inward when being stretched... but
I was wondering if he is talking across the bearing
surface

no, the short measure thru the center section from one side to the other. not from center out to parting line. well, that's nice to know. they did not explain on the phone. thanks

Good to know, as far as I could find they are the only ones doing .001 oversize bearings for Mopar.

Yep. I may buy another set of +.001 and combine them with the standards to get the clearance i need.
