Any guess what the Hp potential of your motor is? Drag only? Gotta love it! up
The only thing I can guaranty is if you stick the tires you WILL need wheelie bars!!

Greg; my goal with the build was to have a street/strip car that was able to break into the nines here in Edmonton at 2100 ft.
The parameters I set for the car were as follows:
-Small block
-pump fuel
-no power adder

I have it booked for a chassis dyno session on the 20th of May.
We did have the engine on the dyno, but only pulled to 7000 (not sure why, I wasn't there) but it was still gaining when they stopped pulling.
I really don't want to start spouting numbers because they seem high to me compared to what I have seen on here in the past with simular combinations.
Dyno numbers always seems to turn threads the wrong way!!!
But like I say, will have it on the chassis dyno next week, and hopefully at the track the following weekend.
You guys have any guesses at power based on what you see/hear?

Depending on the cam it should threaten 700 pretty easily.
If it makes that, at your weight should be able to run 9.40's-50's

Where will you be having it dynoed at? Have some buddies up in Edmonton and just curious.

Amen, that's the main reasons I didn't post the dyno numbers from my 434. after the converter is back and the fine tuning is done if it runs close to what it's supposed to I'll probably post them.

Mine doesn't sound a wicked as yours does, man that thing sounds good.

Hey guys, here is the build thread for this engine. Joss Engines built the engine. It was the first Aluminum XR1 that was released. We look forward to seeing Les making passes in the car this year!! Hey Brian, we have some pictures, I will have to go digging. There were a lot of weird issues with it. oil pump port was in the wrong spot on the rear cap, not enough room for the counterweights to swing in the block (radius of the casting was too big) almost zero drain back, which is nice if you are running a dry sump, but for this we drilled the block similar to a dart little M SBC block, along with drilling through the enclosed cam tunnel, lifter bores were all over the place and needed to be bushed, also, the lifter bores were too high in the block, and the lifters came too far out the bottom of the block. There was more issues, but that is what I can think of off the top of my head. Thousands of dollars in the machine shop. I think they are better now though from what we seen on that 420ci someone else built on here which would have been a production block, where as this one was apparently the prototype block.

We have an old manual engine dyno. The start and flywheel assembly we have for a small block dodge is ancient and it is scary to think of taking it over 7000rpm. LOL.

Also, if the number seem high, again it is a manual dyno, we do not accelerate the engine through a range, it is brought to an rpm, and held there. So it is brake HP, not accelerated HP. Hopefully this helps! It more gives us an idea of what it is going to do in the car, but more so check for issues, and do break in. It worked well on this one. LOL.

I knew there was a reason (for stopping the pull) just not what it was!!
When I mention that the numbers seem high, it's really just me yacking. I really don't have much to compare it to other than what I read on here.
I have to be careful what all I say cause I have nothing to back it up with yet!!

I have to say, feels pretty good to be this close.
Insured it today, will be registered tomorrow.
Pretty pumped.
She has been a long old haul, so thanks to Wayne and Kenny Joss for your perseverance on this deal.

I ask because I'm talking to him now about an aluminum block deal....I just don't want to run a std. block if I don't have to but I also don't need a year long project in a block!

Yes, it was because of pump gas, and just staying on the cautious side. 12.5:1 will be safe with that cam/stroke/rod etc. on the fuel we can readily get up here.

Hi guys, I am the owner of the other running aluminum Ritter block. At this point I would do it all over again, the problems with the Aluminum block are not that bad, the only major problem is the lifter location in the block, that angle is real close to right but the location front to back needs some work. I have spoke with Kent on all of the problems I had with this block and he has fixed some of the problems and is working on others.
