A friend just bought a 69 GTS 383 4spd body and can not find what X21 code stands for.It is an X09 also he says that is also coded for Factory Headers. Would that be real headers or HP Manifolds? 1969 383 A bodies only came with one type of factory exhaust manifolds so technically, I guess, they would be HP manifolds ... headers ????
running up my post count some more .

I have a real 1969 Dart GTS 4 sped car, what are the exact first five numbers and letters on the VIN? mine has a factory defect on the dash VIN tag, it is over stamped on the two center letters in the V.I.N. The fender tag and door post tags are not My message is Mopar did make errors and mistakes on some of thier cars, not all of them are perfect

Typo! Code was Y21 for Factory headers Factory headers on a 69 383 Dart ... I'd like to see a picture of THAT fender tag ... Thought I read somewhere that they where Stahl headers shipped in the trunk, never installed.

The 1967/68 Camaros you could 100% get headers as an option and delivered in the trunk ~ RPOZ28BD. I would wager that the other GM divisions offered the same, as well as Ford, & perhaps Dodge/Plymouth.

You're talking about equipment for off-road applications, which makes total sense for a Trans-Am Camaro. However, the Dart GTS is a completely different animal - I'd wager the Camaro is one of the few, if not the only one, to have headers as an option. http://www.camaros.org/pdf/options.pdf
