I thought the truck was the same over 72-83?

Reproduction vent window seals that are listed by the manufacturer as 78-86?

good question.. I can tell you that in '78 a push button was added to the vent. That's all I know.
I also read everywhere that outside door handles are specific to 78-86, HOWEVER... I just installed new 78-86 aftermarket handles on my '77 that weren't supposed to work.

All I can add is,

I bet they all fit. I have an '82 cab in the garage and doors from an 84. I guarantee those vent windows will fit in a 70's truck as the only change to the actual door was the crease in the sheet metal.

I think it has more to do with the current data base. It's like the kid at the auto parts store that asks if your truck has A/C when you want a carb. gasket. You kinda have to know your interchange. My '77 van does not have the push buttons. '78 pick up does. Not sure on the '76 as those doors are gone.

I recently bought a dual exhaust system for my van. It came with a sticker that said "70 to 74 Dodge Truck", first the body style changed in 71, second it was for my van. No side saddle gas tank.

The point is not all the people involved in the sales of obsolete vehicle parts have a clue what they are dealing with.

Bottom line most folks won't care about such matters. Only those going for exact reproductions. That is especially rare in old trucks.

So again you kinda have to know what you are looking for cause the seller doesn't necessarily know.

I have mechanical Aptitude.
I can screw up anything.

The difference is in where the latch mechanism mounts - the 78-86 units mount in the glass and latch to the frame rail going up the edge of the window.

The 77 and earlier units mount on the bottom of the metal frame at the bottom of the window and latch down to a metal tab in the frame under the vent window.

I have sold them for older trucks and never heard back whether they worked OK or not - just recalling the differences I would think they would work with some trimming of the bottom rubber.
