Hey guys-
So the power window motors are shot in my 67 New Yorker. What does a guy do, I thought I remember reading somewhere that an older Dodge Dakota power window motor could be retrofitted, don't know if that's true or not. I can't find any new ones for 67 New Yorker, so don't really know what to do. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

If you are looking for used, pretty much ANY Mopar with power windows from the late 50's to the 90's uses the same motors. Slight differences from year to year ie electrical plugs but nothing that can't be finessed. My 66 had a support bracket that the 5th Ave motors I used didn't but I've had no issue.

Dorman has new replacements that look nothing like original but fit and they come with adapter cables to address wiring differences.

742-301 for one side and 742-300 for the other.

You can get them at any parts store with those part#'s but the prices are all over the map. I got mine at Summit for about the same $$ as Amazon.

There are a couple of ways to change these. One involves removing the window regulator from the door which is how the FSM instructs you to do it. Major PIA to get it snaked out of the small hole in the bottom of the door. There is also a very powerful clockspring in the regulator and if you do this wrong, it will leave you bleeding profusely possibly with broken bones.

The best way I've found to do it quickly and safely is to figure out where the 3 bolts are that hold the motor to the regulator and then drill a hole thru the inner door panel over each of them that you can get a 1/4 drive socket thru.

You can then reach up thru the hole in the door and retrieve the motor without disturbing the regulator and unleashing its wrath on your unsuspecting fingers.

I agree most used will fit.Used 5th aves in my ram charger.only thing different was the plugs were reversed. Not a big deal just swap them and window works as they should.I picked up like 5 or 6 from junkyard my buddy ran for like 5 bucks for all.Rocky
